  • Do now question- What were the grievances of the 3rd Estate leading up to the French Revolution? (3 minutes)
  • Turn to “The Revolution Begins” page in the packet.  Using information from pages 220-221 in your book and my lecture, fill in the requested information.(15 minutes)
  • Pick up the review notes packet from the front of the room, and complete as we review the first steps toward revolution.
  • By the end of the period, you should be able to answer learning targets 1-4.
  • French Revolution vocab will be due next week on block day.
  • Take-home test over Absolutism, Scientific Revolution, Enlightenment is due next week.  Tuesday for hours 5 and 7, Thursday for hour 6.

  • Students took the chapter 17, 18 vocab quiz
  • Students spent the rest of the period typing their unit 3 DBQs, then submitting them to Turnitin.com
  • unit 3 objective test corrections need to be done by Monday after school.

  • Do Now- “How would you change an unjust government?” (3 minutes)
  • Pick up the French Revolution packet. Turn to the 3 Estates page.  Complete using pages 217-218 in your text.  Be prepared to discuss. (15 minutes)
  • View the brief presentation comparing a revolution to an illness, and the Crash Course video overview of the French Revolution. (20 minutes)
  • Turn to “The Forces of Change” page in the packet and use pages 218-219 to complete the organizer. (10 minutes)
  • Pick up the French Revolution vocab sheet. Do bourgeoisie, clergy, constitution, deficit, Estates General, exile, inflation, monarchy, Old Regime, and revolt by Friday.  Finish the rest by block day next week.

  • Do Now question- “Do individuals and society constantly improve? In what ways?” (3 minutes)
  • Read the Locke and Hobbes quotes about social contract on p. 3 of the packet, answer the questions and prepare to discuss.(10 minutes)
  • Finish taking notes over the Enlightenment presentation. (20 minutes)
  • Complete the “Spread of Enlightenment Ideas” page in the packet. Be prepared to discuss. (10 minutes)
  • Review the “enlightened quotes” section on p. 4, 5. Evaluate each and answer the discussion questions.
  • Pick up take home test for the Absolute Monarchs/ Scientific Revolution/ Enlightenment test.  Complete before coming to class Monday.

  • Do Now question- “Where does the government’s authority come from?” (3 minutes)
  • Review Enlightenment research (45 minutes). Here is a link to the complete presentation today’s slides were taken from.
  • Work on “Enlightened Quotes” and “Spread of Enlightenment ideas” pages in the Enlightenment packet. By the time you are finished with these, you should be able to answer learning target questions 2, 3 A-C, 4 A-C. Have these done by tomorrow. (20 minutes)
  • You will pick up your take-home test over Absolute Monarchs, the Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment tomorrow.

  • We worked on test corrections for the unit 3 objective test.  Corrections will need to be complete by next Monday afternoon, December 3.
  • Due to my oversight, the Lincoln assignment was not available in Turnitin.com until shortly before school this morning.  As a result, I have extended the due date by one day to tomorrow at 7:45 a.m.
  • Prepare for tomorrow’s DBQ.  If you didn’t pick up the question packet and planning worksheet in class, check your school email.
  • The President Precedent report and the unit 2 DBQ have been entered in Synergy.
  • Secret Life of a Developing Country and Republican Motherhood have been scored in Turnitin.com and entered in Synergy.

•Do Now question- “What is the purpose of government?”(3 minutes)
•Turn in you Scientific Revolution/ Enlightenment vocab to the tray by the door. If you don’t have it, you may turn it in after class for up to 90% credit or Monday for up to 70% credit.
•Enlightenment Research- Turn to the research notes sheet in your packet and go to a computer. You will look for evidence of each philosopher’s positions on government and politics, religion, and education.  Be sure to cite sources.
