  • Do Now- What were the main reasons the U.S. fought in Korea? Vietnam?
  • Turn in the Cold War vocab to the tray by the door.
  • Watch the video clips (2) about Vietnam and take notes on your notes page.
  • Turn to the “Cold War Divides the World page, and complete using the video clips over the Cuban Missile Crisis and Iran hostage crisis and pages 548-553 in your text.
  • Turn to the “Indian Subcontinent Achieves Freedom” page in the packet and complete using the video clip and pages 563-569 in your text. (15 minutes)
  • Turn to the “Conflicts in the Middle East” page in the packet. Complete using pages 583- 589 in your text. (15 minutes).
  • By the end of the period, you should be able to answer learning targets 11-14.

  • Jigsaw the “Communists Take Power in China” page in the packet using pages 538-541 in your text. Prepare to discuss. (12 minutes)
  • Do the “Wars in Korea and Vietnam” page in the packet for homework using pages 542-547 in your text.(12 minutes)
  • Turn to the “Cold War Divides the World” page, and complete using pages 548-553.

  • Do Now- Which countries came out of WWII the strongest?
  • Turn in your WWII essays.
  • Pick up the Cold War Learning Targets packet, and read the excerpts from the “Iron Curtain” speech. Discuss with your elbow partner and answer the questions. (10 minutes)
  • Turn to the “Superpowers Face Off” page in the learning targets packet. Complete the story notes page using pages 531-536 in your text. (15 minutes)
  • Cold War in Europe lecture. (20 minutes)
  • With any time left, work on your Cold War maps.
  • Be prepared to answer learning target questions 1, 2, 3, 7a-e, 8, 9, and 10 before the end of the period.
  • Cold War vocab due Tuesday.

  • Complete the WWII test using a #2 pencil. Be sure to write your name on the test. When finished, turn test and answer sheet in to tray.
  • Pick up the WWII essay from the table at the front of the room. This will be a take-home part of the assessment. Answer two of the essay questions on the sheet provided, and return your answers on Monday.
  • After finishing the test, pick up the Cold War vocab. Due on Tuesday, May 20.

  • Do Now- Do you think that the Nuremberg Trials were justified? How would you propose punishing any Nazi war criminal who might still be discovered (They would all likely be at least in their 90s)?
  • We finish Holocaust on Trial. (15 minutes)
  • Rise of Totalitarianism test corrections.
  • WWII test tomorrow. You will be able to use you learning targets packet. You will want to review the self-evaluation questions on the last 3 pages of the packet prior to the test.
