  • Do Now- How confident did you feel taking the test Monday? Did writing the stories in your packet help you to remember the stories for the test? What things did you think you knew really well? What things would you have liked to have known better? (5 minutes)
  • Pick up the WWII Learning Targets Packet from the table by the door. (The real vocab sheet is there also)
  • You will choose 3 of the listed topics to research in class today. (45 minutes)
    • Please be sure to choose reputable websites
    • .edu domain is the most reliable
    • Look for sites that list academic authors and dates of revisions
    • Information should be consistent with other reputable sites.

  • Do Now- How can people today best resist the rise of totalitarian rulers? (How can we prevent totalitarianism in the U.S.?)
  • Complete the Rise of Totalitarianism test. Be sure to write your name on the test.
  • Cellphones on your desks, screens down.
  • Answer two of the four essay questions.
    • Be sure to:
      • Identify characters (who participated)
      • Plot (What important events or ideas are included? Why are they important? How did things change as a result?)
      • Be as specific as possible with your examples and explanations.
  • When finished with the test, return the test, answer sheet and essay to the tray by the door, and pick up the WWII vocabulary sheet. This will be due on Friday.

  • Do Now- Describe at least two ways totalitarian governments rose to power in Germany, Italy, and the USSR after WWI. (5 minutes)
  • Review Great Depression by watching clip.
  • Review rise of Japanese militarism by watching clip.
  • Turn to the “Aggressors Invade Nations” page in the packet. We will discuss after 10 minutes.
  • Rise of Totalitarianism test Monday. I would strongly encourage you to answer the learning target questions to prepare for the test.

  • Do Now- Describe at least two ways totalitarian governments rose to power in Germany, Italy, and the USSR after WWI. (5 minutes)
  • Take notes over Hitler’s early political career.
  • Finish the “Over the Edge” study guide while watching the video. (44 minutes)
  • Complete the “Fascism Rises in Europe” page in your packet using pages 476-480 in your text and information from the film.
  • Rise of Totalitarianism test Monday. You will be able to use the vocab sheets and the learning targets pages only from the packet. I would strongly encourage you to answer the learning target questions to prepare for the test.

  • Do Now- Why did people in Italy support Mussolini’s rise to power?
  • Pick up the readings over Japanese militarism from the table by the door.
  • Participate in the presentation over the rise of Japanese militarism.
  • With any time left, work on completing sections on the learning targets packet over the Russian Revolution, Postwar Uncertainty, and the Great Depression.
  • Be prepared to respond to learning target questions 1-17 before the end of the period.
