  • Do Now- When is war justified?
  • We will do test corrections for the Setting the Stage for Conflict test tomorrow.
  • Take out a sheet of paper, or pick up a Cornell notes sheet from the table at the front of the room and prepare to take notes over the causes of WWI.
  • With any time left, work on the WWI vocabulary packet.
  • WWI vocab will be due Friday.

  • Do Now- Does Nationalism inevitably lead to war?
  • Turn in your masterpieces.
  • Choose one of the following essay questions to answer on a separate sheet of paper:
    • Essay # 1- Compare and contrast Italy’s process of unification to Germany’s. (4 points) How were they alike/ different?
    • Essay # 2- Compare German Unification to the Meiji Restoration. (4 points). How were they alike/ different?
  • In your response, be sure to explain important people, places, and events relevant to each topic. What roles did Nationalism and/or Industrialization play?
  • After the test, pick up the WWI vocab sheet and start working on it. Due Friday, March 2.

We discussed the Coolidge and Hoover administrations, with an emphasis on Hoover’s responses to the Great Depression.

  • Do Now- How do artistic movements reflect what is happening in society? (3 minutes)
  • Create 3 masterpieces using the styles of each of the 3 artistic movements covered and addressing a topic that each school would have portrayed.  Use paper, colored pencils, or markers provided. (45 minutes) Due Monday.
  • Setting the Stage objective assessment on Monday.  Be sure that you know all the stories and answer all the learning target questions!
  • Setting the Stage for conflict vocab has been entered in eSIS.

We discussed the politics of the Harding Administration.

  • Do Now- What did the Dreyfus Affair say about European culture at the end of the 19th century? (3 minutes)
  • Pick up a copy of the Introduction to Art handout on the table at the front of the room.
  • Pay close attention to the notes and video about artistic movements.  Be prepared to identify important elements of Neo-classicism, Romanticism, and Impressionism. (learning target #17)(45 minutes)

  • Do Now- How did Germany unite?  What was the role of Bismarck? (learning target #2)(5 minutes)
  • Take out your packets and work on completing the Democratic Reform and Activism story notes page and the Five Years of my life page about the case of Alfred Dreyfus using pp. 313-316 in your text. Be prepared to discuss (25 minutes)
  • By the end of the period you should be able to answer learning targets questions 13 and 14.
