Students formed groups for the President precedent reports.  We spent part of the period reviewing attributes of good versus bad presentations.  Presentations will be due on block day, 10/5 and 10/6.

  • Take out your Do Now sheet and answer the following, “How do you define art?  Have you ever been emotionally impacted by a work of art?”(3 minutes)
  • Take out your Renaissance packet and Renaissance figures readings and prepare to complete the notes on the decline of Feudalism and the Rise of the Renaissance. (15 minutes)
  • Using the Renaissance figures reading and the online readings about Gutenberg, Machiavelli, Petrarch, and Shakespeare, work to fill out the Renaissance figures page of the packet.
  • Renaissance vocab is due on block day.

  • Pick up a Do Now sheet and answer the following, “What does art tell us about the society we live in?  Can you think of a work of art that helped you understand an issue or event? Explain.” (3 minutes)
  • Turn in the Constitution story notes from Friday if you didn’t already.
  • Prepare to continue watching the presentation about Renaissance art and to answer questions over it. (40 minutes)
  • Pick up the Renaissance vocabulary sheet from the table by the door if you didn’t on Friday. (5 minutes)

  • Do Now- “Is it important for governments to follow rules? Who should make the rules?” (3 minutes)
  • Turn in your Decline of Feudalism story notes to the tray by the door.  Since there is no Overtime today, those of you who don’t have it now may turn it in by the start of school Monday for up to 90% credit.
  • Pick up a story notes page for the Constitution.  Read through the questions in preparation for viewing the video.  You will have a few minutes at the end of class to complete this.

  • Take out your Do Now sheet and answer the following, “What would happen in 2010 if an epidemic were to strike that wiped out 1/3 of our population within the next 5 years?  How would your life be different (if you were among the survivors)?” (3 minutes)
  • Use your story notes and Decline of Feudalism reading to answer questions about the decline of Feudalism at the end of the Middle Ages. (25 minutes)
  • Finish the Decline of Feudalism story notes for homework. Due Friday.  Make sure you have identified setting, key characters, and important plot facts and summarized the story in the space provided on the page.
  • Watch and answer questions during the presentation on Renaissance art.  How does this artwork show differences between people of the Renaissance and the middle ages? (40 minutes)
