Students took the French Revolution test. Afterward, students picked up the review packet for the 1st semester final. Students will be able to use the completed packets on the final (and nothing else).
Bring the review packet to class Monday.

We wrapped up the lecture on political Reconstruction of the South. Students then had a bit of time to work in Discourse for unit 4. Discourse will be due on Tuesday.
In the event that school is cancelled on Monday, I will email you the DBQ question and document packet Monday morning using the email addresses in turnitin.com.

Students made their Napoleon presentations. Afterward, I distributed the review sheet for the French Revolution test. The test is tomorrow, and you will also need to bring your French Rev. packet to turn in.
Bring #2 pencils and your French Rev. packet to class Friday!

I concluded my lecture over the Civil War, and began discussing political reconstruction. For the last hour students had an opportunity to work on Discourse for unit 4. Discourse will be due on Tuesday, December 16.
For the homework tomorrow, follow the directions #1 a-d on the front, and complete the chart on the back.

I lectured over the Congress of Vienna while students took notes in their packets. At the end of the period, students had some time to work on their Napoleon presentations, which will be given on block day.

I finished my lecture over Napoleon. I then introduced the Napoleon: Keep Him or Leave Him activity. Groups of 3 will prepare presentations that will be made on block day this week.

Students took the chapter 19, 20 vocab quiz. We then talked about John Brown and the reaction to his escapades, and other events leading to the Civil War.

I lectured over the Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857) decision and its consequences. I then talked about the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860, and the text of his 1st Inaugural Address.

Students watched the last few minutes of the French Rev. documentary. For the remainder of the period students:
- completed and turned in the film study guide
- worked on the moderate and radical phase pages in the French Rev. packet
- worked on the map of Europe after Napoleon, due Friday.

A busy day! Students:
- did test corrections for the unit 3 objective test.
- typed their unit 3 DBQs and submitted them to turnitin.com.
- picked up the handouts and due dates for unit 4.
- started working on Discourse for unit 4.

Students turned in the Important People foldable. I then distributed a study guide and began showing the History Channel documentary The French Revolution.

We reviewed the dbq skills packet, which students then turned in. Then we evaluated the unit 3 dbq prompt and many of the documents, and discussed how reform movements may have sought to expand democratic ideals. Students will write the dbq in class tomorrow, and will be able to use notes written on the question packet.
