The Unit 1 objective scores are posted on the door to my classroom!  Overall, the performance was decent, though there is certainly still room for improvement.  Those of you who took advantage of thetestingcenter.com, let me know if that helped.

In class, we spent time on the essay skill of identifying critical words in a question, and the document skill of asking analytical questions.  You will need to need to answer the questions relating to the economic opportunities question, and write the part B essay before coming to class Friday.

Students had their vision and hearing screenings.  In between, we reviewed for tomorrow’s test, and students turned in their Unit 1 timelines.

Disregard questions 152-210 in the Unit 1 review bank at TheTestingCenter.com.  They belong to a later unit, and I’m not sure how they got in the middle of this set of questions.  Sorry for any confusion!

Be sure to bring #2 pencils and a good quality eraser to class tomorrow for the test.

Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day!  Start your celebration by discovering your pirate name!

My pirate name is:
Black Jack Flint

Like anyone confronted with the harshness of robbery on the high seas, you can be pessimistic at times. Like the rock flint, you’re hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you’re easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from piratequiz.com.

We went over tensions between the British and the colonists in 1763.

Students participated in the Constitution Day activity “Visitor from Outer Space.”  They had to come to consensus on which rights to retain and which to give up under coercion from invading aliens.

Following the activity, students worked to complete the Renaissance Learning Targets quiz.  Students were encouraged to use the notes and packets they had completed, and work to together to complete the quiz.
