Students read a brief overview of the Boer War to establish setting, then watched the first part of Breaker Morant, watching particularly for examples of nationalism and imperialism.

I presented an overview of artistic schools that developed following the French and Industrial Revolutions. We examined themes, styles, techniques of Romanticism and Impressionism, and for the last part of the period, students attempted to create a work of art with one of those themes or topics.

We discussed the causes of the Great Depression and the influence of John Maynard Keynes on New Deal policy. During the last part of the period, students started work in groups on the New Deal project.
Were Keynesian economic policies successful in ending the Great Depression?
- Were New Deal policies effective?
- Were New Deal policies Keynesian?

I reviewed with students the similarities and differences between the Nationalist Revolutions we have been studying. We then started to review the unit learning targets. Students should complete that on their own to review for tomorrow’s quiz.

We discussed the Sacco and Vanzetti case in some detail. Students were asked whether they believed the two were guilt or not guilty, or whether they were guilty or innocent, and how those two questions are different.
For the last few minutes, I started an overview of the Harding and Coolidge administrations.

I finished reviewing information related to the nationalist revolutions. On Monday students will complete the compare/contrast page on the last page of the packet, then review the unit learning targets for the quiz on Tuesday.

Students completed their nationalist revolutions monument projects and presented them to the class. After all presentations were complete, I reviewed information related to each of the uprisings.

I presented a brief overview of New Nationalism and New Federalism. Students then worked in Discourse. I highlighted frames dealing with Roosevelt and trusts, Taft’s Dollar Diplomacy, Wilson’s Moral Diplomacy and attack on the “Triple Wall of Privilege,” and the U.S. entry into WWI.
