We went over the last page of the Age of Absolute Monarchs packet with the similarities and differences between the governments and leaders of France, Russia, and England. After those were turned in, I distributed the semester final review packet. Students who have all assignments turned in by the end of the day today may use the review packet on the final.

I reviewed the relative strengths and weaknesses of the Union and Confederacy entering the Civil War, then gave an overview of the military leadership, objectives, and campaigns of the first half of the war. That is a lot to cover, and you might benefit from reviewing the lecture notes.
The chapter 21, 22 vocab quiz will be on Monday, 12/17.
The Reconstruction assignment will be due on Monday as well.
Discourse will be due Tuesday by the end of the day.
Don’t forget to take advantage of the review test banks at the Testing Center.

Students turned in their Scientific Revolution/Enlightenment packets. We then worked on Age of Absolute Monarchs vocab and notes. You will find the notes in the review section at the end of chapter 5 in the text. Finally, I distributed reading guides for 3 sections of chapter 5. Students are to complete those before filling out the compare/contrast chart on the last page of the Absolute Monarchs packet. This will all be due on Friday.
Friday students will receive the review guide for the final.
Friday is the last day to make up quizzes and tests and turn in homework.

We discussed and reviewed the learning targets for the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment. Students will be able to use the learning targets booklets on the semester final. Please understand that is still necessary to study. You will not have enough time to look up all the answers to finals questions in the booklets, even if all the answers are there, which is unlikely.
You will want to start collecting the vocab and unit packets for Ancient Civilizations, Middle Ages, Renaissance/Reformation, Exploration, and Scientific Revolution/Enlightenment to prepare to study for the final.

Students worked in groups to prepare for the Enlightenment Thinkers press conference. Presentations are tomorrow! While I don’t expect anyone to rent an actual period costume, I would like for everyone to try to dress in a way that suggests you are not in the 21st century.

Students did test corrections for unit 3, then we read and discussed Lincoln’s First Inaugural Address. In particular, I asked students to identify what Lincoln said about the seizure of federal property, slavery, and the nature of the union. We then discussed what he said and why he may have said what he did.
Students also got assignments and due dates for unit 4.
The unit 4 review bank is now available at The Testing Center .
