I finished the presentation on the Holocaust. Then I introduced the film Holocaust on Trial by giving some background about the setting of the film and the main characters, then asking students:

  • What evidence was presented by Irving to support his contention that the Holocaust didn’t happen?
  • What evidence did Deborah Lipstadt’s attorney introduce to prove the existence of the Holocaust?
  • How would you respond to someone who denied the Holocaust?

We will watch the film tomorrow.
Don’t forget the WWII/Holocaust test on Friday.

We reviewed the Free Response Questions from the 2007 exam. Question 1 was very similar to our Unit 5 DBQ and question 3 was very similar to our Unit 4 DBQ. Overall I felt good about our preparation, and I thought the questions were very answerable. I hope you all felt the same way. Now we just have to wait until July to find out for sure!

Next, we started the annual APUSH film festival. Students will write 2-3 film reviews over films that I select. First up is American Graffiti.
